For those that were assigned the extra assignment #1, you were to find a news article that had to do with evolution, read it, and write a 1 paragraph summary. You were also required to print it. It was brought to my attention that some of you do not have printing capabilities so, you may site your source by including the web address you found it, print it, or email it to me WITH your summary. Please do not just email me the article. my email address is ddickey@dallasisd.org.

We will be working on the natural selection lab. The worksheet lab is HERE! We will be completing the lab in class. You are responsible for getting the post lab questions complete. If you do not finish in class this is homework.

Your roots quiz has been rescheduled to Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Also, you have been assigned a folder game project. The rubric looks like THIS! (click on link) This rubric says "novel", but you know your topic that has been assigned is EVOLUTION, NATURAL SELECTION, ARTIFICIAL SELECTION, and DARWIN.

Extra assignment: Look up 1 news article having to do with evolution. Print it out and make sure you site your source. You will need to turn that in with your 1 paragraph summary.

Friday, January 25, 2013

January 25

Today in class, we continued our discussion on Evolution. We looked at a number of pictures of cell phones pictured HERE. We discussed with a partner how this shows the theory of evolution and some observations that were made to support it.

In class, students were to write 1 paragraph about how the cell phones represented evolution along with stating observations to support their theory. This is due during the next class.

Also, parent letters went home today which talked about class supplies, policies, projects, internet and computer use, as well as grades for the semester. A copy of the parent letter can be found HERE.

Homework:
1. Study Root Words for quiz...Monday for A Day or Tuesday for B Day. The roots are #92-117. If you have lost your root word sheet, they are below.
