In class today we will be going over speciation and do the clipbird lab.

The guided notes are Here...Speciation GN

The power point to go along with the notes is Here----Speciation PPT

The clip bird lab is Here...Clipbird Lab sheet

For those that were assigned the extra assignment #1, you were to find a news article that had to do with evolution, read it, and write a 1 paragraph summary. You were also required to print it. It was brought to my attention that some of you do not have printing capabilities so, you may site your source by including the web address you found it, print it, or email it to me WITH your summary. Please do not just email me the article. my email address is ddickey@dallasisd.org.

Your roots quiz will be rescheduled until next Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, next Friday, you will have your first test for this six weeks and the semester. Please be reviewing EVERY night the material covered in class.

Today in class, we continued our discussion on Evolution. We looked at a number of pictures of cell phones pictured HERE. We discussed with a partner how this shows the theory of evolution and some observations that were made to support it.

In class, students were to write 1 paragraph about how the cell phones represented evolution along with stating observations to support their theory. This is due during the next class.

Also, parent letters went home today which talked about class supplies, policies, projects, internet and computer use, as well as grades for the semester. A copy of the parent letter can be found HERE.

Homework:
1. Study Root Words for quiz...Monday for A Day or Tuesday for B Day. The roots are #92-117. If you have lost your root word sheet, they are below.

2. IF you did not finish your paragraph on cell phone evolution, you will need to have that completed and returned to class as well.

3. Parent letters need to be signed and returned during the next class along with your supplies. BE SURE you bring your binder as that will be used for your science journal!

4. Frayer Vocabulary words due next class: paleontologist, fossil, biogeography, population, adaptation, gradualism.

5. EXTRA Assignment for those classes that were assigned (5th period).
